THE ABC’s OF SALVATION
The Bible tells us that our sin has separated us from God. In Isaiah 59:1-2 tells us, “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.”
The good news is that Jesus Christ has come and died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.
What must I do to be saved?
A – Admit that you are a sinner!
The Bible tells us, “There is none righteous, no, not one!” Romans 3:10. Also, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23.
We are born into this world as sinners and there is nothing that we can do to change that. God only accepts perfection and the Bible tells us that our righteousness, or all the good we have done are like filthy rags! (Isaiah 64:6)
Paul reminds us that “. . . the wages of sin is death, but the [free] gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23.
Sin has separated us from God, and we can’t fix that by being good. We fall far short of God’s requirement of perfection, but God doesn’t leave us in that condition. His love for us is so great that He became flesh and paid in full the debt for our sin on the cross of Calvary by His shed blood!
Now you may be thinking, “What do I need to do to be saved?”
Let me show you!
B – Believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and that God raised Jesus from the dead!
In Romans 10:9-10 we are told what we need to do, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
This is a gift of God to us. We don’t have to work for it. We don’t have to do anything but receive it by faith.
It is as Paul tells us in Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
Paul’s point is simple. We are saved by grace alone or God gives to us what we don’t deserve – Heaven!
All we must do is repent of our sins and ask Jesus to be Lord and Savior of our lives!
C – Call upon the name of the Lord!
Here is the wonderful thing about Jesus. All you need to do is to call upon Him and He will hear your voice, and He will extend eternal life to you.
Paul put it like this in Romans 10:13, “whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
It doesn’t matter what you have done in life, God will forgive you of your sins! Today is the day of salvation, don’t pass it up!
I pray that you have seen that Jesus Christ died on the cross of Calvary for our sins, and He rose on the third day from the grave! He paid in full the penalty for our sins.
Paul said in I Corinthians 15:3-4, “For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”
To come to Jesus your prayer may go something like this:
“Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I come to you asking you to forgive me of my sins and be Lord and Savior in my life. I believe by faith that you have forgiven me of my sins. Thank you Lord for your love and forgiveness. Thank you for saving me! Amen.”
